Eagle Scout Project – Habitat Clean Up

Ben Shipp, a local high school Boy Scout, worked hard in the Mary Lin Habitat this weekend (3/12-3/13). For his Eagle Scout project, Ben is cleaning up our outdoor amphitheater classroom and will be building and installing new picnic tables in the next two weeks!

Check out his hard work:
– Screwed down a board that was sticking up from the deck
– Put a new seat on the broken bench
– Scrubbed the entire chalk board and got rid of the mold and algae growing on it
– Cleaned the chalkboard and left us a new box of chalk!
– Picked up trash from the entire site
– Swept off the platform and the seats

UPDATE:

Ben and fellow Boy Scouts had their second work day on Saturday, March 25th and built 4 wood picnic benches for our Habitat!

Our amphitheater and Habitat look so much better now! We can’t wait for the students and teachers to use the cleaned up space when it gets warmer out.
Thanks Ben!!
